Neuromuscular Fatigue After Repeated Sprint Exercise
I was so excited to be chosen to participate in PRISM. It felt like such as amazing opportunity that I was able to experience and it was something I really looked forward to. I was definitely nervous going in because I didn’t know what to expect except that I had to write a really long paper, and present at the end of the summer and design my own procedure for an experiment. Luckily, I got paired with an amazing partner and my professor, Dr. Blaisdell, was super nice. They really the summer enjoyable, even when things weren’t going as planned or when it felt like 100 degrees out. Which really sucked for us since our research was based outside, sprinting up an incline. And since this was still during COVID restrictions, it meant we weren’t approved for human test subjects, meaning my partner and I were the ones conducting the many sprints up the hill. So that wasn’t as fun. But overall I really enjoyed my experience with PRISM. I still feel really lucky that I got the chance to be apart of it. I only wish I could have done work with a professor who’s research was more medical or biology based, but I knew if I was going to be spending 8 weeks working on the same topic it had to be something I was interested in. As a student athlete, Dr. Blaisdell’s research really interested me and was a topic I knew I wanted to learn more about. PRISM is now an experience I always remember fondly and recommend to others.
