Folklore was a class that sought to think about where our stories come from and how things change over time. We spent a lot of our time tracing stories we heard growing up back to their roots and analyzing the changes in the story’s details. I believe this class helped reshape my way of thinking and taking things past the surface level. Often, we can hear something and take that as fact. Dr. Kostro gave us the chance to look at the past and see how things have evolved. As a historian, it is important to remember to look deeper to find the root cause of our modern events.
