In the fall of my junior year, I completed Archaeological Laboratory Methods. This class sought to teach us how to work with different materials such as bone, ceramic, lithic, or glass in a laboratory setting, while also teaching us methods for research as well. Each week, we were taught a lesson on the different materials and worked with samples. We had to draw each sample in a field journal. This all was to help us experience what it would be like to work with materials in the field in the future. We also completed a Dorm Room Ethnography project which allowed us to practice observation and research as if we were working on a field site. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to practice skills that I would need in the field as an archaeologist in the future.
