Scholarship

The most obvious experience students should have at college is scholarship. We are there to learn and gain a degree that will help us to gain a career. With the Cormier Honors College, our motto is, “It’s not more work, it’s different work.”

In honors classes, we tend to steer away from traditional textbook learning. We are able to engage with each other and create fun projects. In Citizen 110 with Professor Moore, we worked all semester on a research project on a topic of our choice. Rather than writing papers, we learned to present research and confidently speak in front of groups. At the end of the semester, we presented our research on panels at the Student Showcase of Research and Creative Inquiry. ENSC with Dr. Ellis made me branch out and do deep research along with contacting outside sources for information on sustainability. Dr. Bincoe challenges us to spend time outside without electronics and to read for one hour a week. This assignment has given me a chance to breathe during the hectic weeks.
