Resume

The assignment of conducting a resume for either Graduate school or a future employer fulfilled the course outcome of creating professional documents that use plain English principles (to targeted audience). I specifically utilized the plain English principles of headings and bullet points to display my information clearly to my target audience of Graduate School admissions. For example, under the work experience heading I was able to use subheadings and bullet points to briefly describe the individual jobs I worked that relate to my future career. This assignment taught me the importance of concise and clear writing and how to can benefit certain genres oof professional writing such as resumes. I practiced being concise in my writing throughout this assignment, as it is an important characteristic in resumes and makes sure they are not too lengthy. The challenge I faced when creating my resume was choosing what information to keep and what information to leave out. To overcome this challenge, I focused on the information that was most relevant to my college career and future career. This meant changing information such as only mentioning a job rather than taking the time and space o describe what the roles of each looks like. Overall, working on and receiving feedback on the resume that I submitted for Graduate school applications was extremely beneficial.
