ART 213-02

This course exposes students to a diverse range of practices with the ceramic medium. Topics will include the creation of vessels and sculptures, using basic hand-building and wheel throwing. Also introduced are basic concepts and theories regarding ceramic technology, kiln operations, and aspects of historical and contemporary ceramics.

Throughout this course I learned patience and discipline. I figured out my strengths and weaknesses late in the course. We started with the wheel and I had no experience so it was difficult for me to create a clean piece. Hand building came naturally to me because I took a ceramics course in high school that only used this method.

I chose this artifact because it demonstrates my best work and I was very proud of this piece because I paid attention to detail and tried to make it “life like”.
