This Honors Film Analysis class filled the foundation level, first year requirements. This was the Inquiry to Citizenship course that I took with Professor Nez. This course was also writing heavy and helped my writing skills on top of my English 165 course. I thought this course was the most challenging course out of all the classes that I took during my Freshman year. The lectures were very advanced, and they required a different level of thinking and analysis. However, I felt that the lectures were random and did not help me with the objective of the class. They were very interesting topics to talk and learn about but overall, I thought lacked connection with the material. The material itself was super interesting and I enjoyed a lot. I am a huge movie buff and I watch a lot of movies in general. However, what I found surprising is how I learned that’s directors choose such precise and specific details while creating a film. These specific details are sometimes hard to notice and understand and pinpointing them is what was required for this class. With this, I did face many struggles and had to spend lots of time working on the assignments, which was challenging. This course was both writing heavy and presentation heavy. Personally, I have struggled with presentations in the past, but have grown a lot over the years. This class allowed me to constantly be presenting in front of a crowd and allowed me to grow even more. Also, since this was an honors course it had a smaller class size. I strive the best in classrooms that are not student heavy. Longwood in general has small class size but the honor classes, I have experienced, have been even smaller. This way I get comfortable and familiar with all the students and the teacher and it allows me to learn even more and accelerate in objectives. Overall, I had a love hate relationship with this class, but did take a lot away from it. The artifact below is one of my presentation outlines that gives many film analyses. This was my first major assignment and my favorite one, as well. I believe this artifact perfectly displays the difficulty of this class on top of the material I learned in this class.
