Goal 3: Culture Through Literature

World Literature was a thought-provoking course in which I had to explore the use of symbolism and historical context in order to fully understand and analyze the text given to me. Throughout the course we read Anthony Doerr’s novel, All The Light We Cannot See, which was one of the best novels I’ve ever read. Using my knowledge from previous discussions in class, I was asked to choose one symbol/theme that occurred throughout the story and explain how it related to the historical context and bigger picture of the story. I feel that this piece shows my growth in my ability to see how small details are the main part of what make up the bigger picture.
