I choose this artifact for my portfolio for two reasons. The first is that it covered a topic I am very passionate about. The second is that not only did I have to debate my point of view but I had to do so in a specific formula that we had learned about in class known as Modus Ponens. What made this class stand out from other debate classes I have taken is that we rarely focused on one specific topic, but rather, we tried to come up with a solution for every topic. While most debates try to consider if an action is right or wrong after it has occurred, we tried to create a general rule that would apply to all people in all situations to serve as a guide in future decisions. I’m very proud of this artifact in particular because it required me to utilize a new set of debate skills that went beyond my personal opinion and required me to look into every potential argument and view point in order to create a sound argument.
