The Three Pillars of Longwood

My name is Madison Cutten and I am a senior at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, graduating in May, 2019. I am a Kinesiology major with a concentration in Exercise Science and have a minor in Health Education. I am involved in variety of organizations and groups on campus including the Cormier Honors College, Phi Epsilon Kappa fraternity, Mortar Board, and the Student Wellness Ambassadors. I also work as the Fitness Supervisor for Longwood’s Campus Recreation, at which I was awarded 2018 Employee of the Year.  I have experience in many different areas within a health and fitness setting including as a supervisor, front desk assistant, personal trainer and group exercise instructor. To learn more about me, as well as my involvement on Longwood’s campus and the Farmville community, please see the three pillars of Longwood below.

Scholarship- Throughout my years at Longwood, I have shown scholarship through my repeated appearances on the Dean’s List as well as being chosen as the recipient of Longwood Campus Recreation’s Shiv Sharma scholarship for the past two years. The scholarship is awarded to a student within Campus Recreation who exhibits a passion for campus recreation and fitness.

Service- Since being inducted into Longwood’s Geist chapter of Mortar Board, I have participated in several community service events including the Wellness Fair, the American Red Cross Blood Drive, and the Hurricane Disaster Relief Food Drive.

Community- Through my positions at Campus Recreation, I have been able to serve both Longwood and Farmville’s community. For Longwood we provide not only health and fitness opportunities to students but also special events and wellness education. As for the Farmville community, we have recently launched a new position known as the Student Wellness Ambassadors. To promote our name as well as local businesses within the Farmville area, we asked a variety of stores to sponsor our events, allowing us to provide prizes for students while also helping support local businesses.
