Biography

Hi! My name is Rebecca Mills and I am currently a junior biology major at Longwood University. My love for wildlife and the environment led to me study biology, and it has been something I’ve thoroughly enjoyed studying. Along the way in my undergraduate journey, I’ve also developed a passion for understanding human health as it relates to the environment. While I’m still unsure what my future career will be, I know I want it to relate to this topic.

My whole life, I have been very academically driven and have had a passion for learning. I’ve enjoyed my involvement in the honors college and LIFE STEM program at Longwood, as I believe it has excelled my education. These programs have allowed me to get a jumpstart on research in the biology department beginning my sophomore year. I’ve loved getting to work in the labs and work one on one with professors.

I currently work in the microbiology lab at Longwood as a lab assistant. It has given me so much experience in the field and expanded my love for biology and the sciences. Working in the lab offers me experience with equipment as well as crucial skills such as time management, communication, and organization. It’s something that I’ve enjoyed the most in my academic journey.
