Music Appreciation (MUSC 224)

Honors Music Appreciation was my first honors college course other then LSEM 100. I was anxious to start this class; however, once starting it I learned all about music genres from different time eras. I thought that it was interesting learning about Gregorian chants and music during the Romantic period. My teacher made this class engaging and always made the lesson as interesting as he could.

My biggest takeaway from this class was learning how older music has influenced modern music. Stylistically it made me see how concepts used back then are still being used and are relevant today. I did not thought I would take a music class because I never had an interest, but this class made me want to take different types of art classes.

In this class we had a group project where we had to choose any artist or band and present our research on them. My group researched Elvis Presley and his contributions to the world of music. Making this powerpoint made me learn how to present a lengthy research project with minimal information on the presentation slides.
