Special Topics: Love, Sex, and Friendship (HONS 295)

Honors Special topics: Love, Sex, and Friendship is the first philosophy/ethics class I have ever taken. I took this class to fulfill one of my eight required honors classes. This class involves writings from Plato, Kirkregaard, and the New Testament. We learned about different ways people love each other and how to better yourself as a person.

One thing I took away from this class is that I learned how to write an essay about philosophy and use their ideas to establish my own. I was able to take a topic and a writing and form a reflection essay.

One reflection I wrote in this class was about a writing from Aristophanes. I reflected upon how he describes that our soulmate was split from one being when we were born and we are in search of the other half our entire lives. This essay was my favorite to write because the idea of our soulmate perviously being part of us interested me.
