MATH 309

Numeration Systems • Maria Timmerman • Spring 2018

This class provided a wealth of information on how to teach elementary math concepts! Dr. Timmerman’s passion and ideas made this class my favorite of the semester and reminded me why I want to teach. From reinforcement activities to discovering why students may have made a mistake, this class was incredibly informative and inspiring. I’ve acquired a number of activities that can be included in my future elementary classroom. We had one project in this class, in which we looked at Virginia’s Standards of Learning and considered a select few problems under many different perspectives. It allowed a class full of future teachers to become familiar with the standards we would be working with in the future. This project especially helped me become more articulate in explaining what questions were asking and how they could be solved.
