MATH 171 {H}

FALL 2019

In this class, we had to write papers about the calculations we were learning.  We would learn about confidence intervals, bias, and many other statistics related tests.  Not only did we learn how to perform the tests on the calculator, but we learned how to basically conduct a study and explain our results, as you can see in the paper below.

Reflection: I never really enjoyed math classes, and I had never experienced writing a paper in one until this project.  The math we learned in this class was actually very educational for me because many sports medicine journal articles use the same jargon and statistics tests.  I am now able to understand what my research means when it says “a .99 confidence interval” when I am reading case studies for athletic training.  This class was more useful than I realized it would be at the time.  Furthermore, it opened my eyes to what scientists have to go through to make an educated statement about statistics.  Because of this, I will be able to use the knowledge I gained in this class in my future athletic training career.
