MUSC 331

FALL 2020

Attached is a presentation I completed with some classmates about the Reformation period of music and a man named William Byrd. I figured it was more interesting to include than an essay.

Sacred Music In England During The Reformation

Thomas C., Daniel E., Meredith G., Amber M., Wilson T., Taylor Y.

Reflection: This class was mainly for third year music majors. I was interested in taking this class because it replaced taking a normal history class. In music 331, we learned about the history of music ranging from the first recorded instrument to the Baroque period. We mainly focused on the development of classical music as well as church versus secular music. This class was very difficult for me because I am not well versed in musical terminology. However, I feel like the class broadened my perspective of music and allowed me to learn more about the culture surrounding it. I believe I am a more well rounded individual because of this historical knowledge.
