Scholarship

My academic achievements have always been a big part of what makes me who I am.  I value the idea of excelling in my classes as well as helping fellow classmates if needed.  I think having a good understanding of scholarship in college comes from not only my own success but also the success of my peers.  Throughout my time studying athletic training, it has become increasingly obvious that collaboration is the best way to approach a situation.  As an athletic trainer, it is crucial to be constantly learning from and teaching each other.  Patient education is also a valuable asset that I thoroughly enjoy in this profession.  It is important to inform the patient of the treatment and healing process so that they understand what their body is going through and why.

The Cormier Honors College pushes us to do our best and succeed in all our academic endeavors.  One statement that sticks out in my mind at the beginning of each new semester is “Honors students always sit in the front row.”  Although this seems sort of cliché, I take it as a reminder to step out of my comfort zone and make a good first impression on my professors.  Furthermore, the honors classes I have taken have never failed to open my mind to different learning opportunities and subjects.  In honors courses, I feel as though I can look at topics from different perspectives and take them into account when forming my own opinions.  Ultimately, I strive to continue to polish my scholarship attributes through both academics and honors organizations (see home page for list).
