F.A.C.E.S Volunteering

During my first week at Longwood University, the Cormier Honors College put on a fantastic retreat to get the students acquainted with their new life at college as well as with their fellow honors college colleagues. One of the activities on the agenda that week was a service project in the area. There were various projects underway that day, such as cleaning up High Bridge Trail and working at the local SPCA shelter. The service project I ended up being a part of was a day with the staff of F.A.C.E.S Food Pantry. Several students were there and we conversed with the staff members while simultaneously packaging and unpackaging food. It was genuinely a wonderful experience to partake in and gave so much to the students there that day, being able to see how fortunate we truly are and how we can help those that just need a bit of a hand.
