Sport Psychology

Sport psychology, taught by Dr. Jimenez, gave me insight on how coaches should approach athletes to help better their physical and mental health. We learned about stress, setting goals, eating disorders, and overall mental health. The things I learned in this course can be applied to the outside world because I am an athlete. I learned different ways to relieve stress and how to set achievable goals instead of only focusing on the outcome goals, which are further out of reach. It would also be helpful if I ever were to coach to have this information so I know how to build up my athlete’s confidence. For example, I now know that punishment running is severely detrimental to an athletes confidence and empathy.
