Sport Nutrition

Sport Nutrition, taught by Dr. Levers, focuses on what an athlete should and should not eat to reach top performance. We learned interesting information such as drinking chocolate milk after a workout is good because it has a high protein and carbohydrate content which will help build muscle and allow the athlete to recover quickly.

It was interesting to see how the information in sport nutrition differed from that of normal nutrition, which I took the semester after. One difference is that it is bad for an athlete to have a diet high in fiber because fiber moves the food too quickly through the system and does not give the bod enough time to absorb all of the nutrients whereas a normal person should have  a healthy amount of fiber every day.

This class was directly applicable to my life because, as an athlete, it helped me discover the best ways to help my body recover for workouts.
