MATH 301: Quantitative or Scientific Perspective

Applied Statistics

This is the second statistics class I have taken here at Longwood. Statistics is a really hard concept for me to grasp but this class made it really easy to understand the steps and conclusions for each type of problem we covered. We covered one-way and two-way analysis of variance, regression, and several statistical tests. We also were introduced to computer software, R Studio, that allowed us to solve problems we would not have been able to otherwise. This was a huge help in my learning because it allowed me to try problems and see where I may need further instruction.

I have never worked with computer software related to statistics, such as R Studio. Therefore, this aspect of statistics was difficult for me and in the future I hope to further my knowledge on this topic. I also wish to learn more about alternative programs that may challenge my learning to allow my knowledge of statistics to grow more. However, while working with this software for most of the semester, I was able to further my technology skills. Throughout this class we created reports through R Studio with data given to us. I have attached a report I did on apartment rental costs based on size. As a student, I retrieved the data, completed the steps, analyzed my results through R Studio, and created a report that integrated all my data and results. My report is below.
