NURS 360: Intro to Research and Evidence Based Practice

NURS 360 focused on research and evidence based practice in the field of nursing. Throughout this course I was able to identify how to critically read research studies and literature reviews with the result of translating research evidence into practice. This course was an online course, which I enjoyed because it allowed me to work at my own pace. I gained further knowledge on how to critique literature reviews and identifying credible sources in creating research papers. As a nurse it is essential to identify current research on nursing practices and I hope to use the knowledge I gained throughout this course in the future as I enter into the field of nursing.

During this course we were able to work with a partner to research a chosen topic and create a presentation to present at the Research Showcase here at Longwood. My partner and I aimed to answer the following question: Does smoking cessation counseling improve success rates in adult smokers who desire to quit compared to pharmacologic therapy for cessation and no therapy or counseling? Below you can find our poster that we created with the research we gathered in answering this question.
