NURS 320: Principles of Pharmacology

NURS 320 was focused on pharmacology and the use of drugs to manage many common diseases and conditions. It focused on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of common drugs and the implications for patient teaching and monitoring. Throughout this course we created flashcards for many of the drugs we learned, which included the name, drug class, indications for use, and adverse/side effects. This was beneficial for me in learning each drug and reintegrating what I had learned in class. In almost any field of nursing patients are receiving medications. I feel that this class prepared me in the evidence based practice of giving my patients medications and understanding the importance of patient rights and safety.

I had the opportunity to enhance this class, along with NURS 315, as part of the Cormier Honors College. For this enhancement I researched five drugs and identified the interaction those drugs have with certain food. I then created a presentation that I presented to the class to spread the knowledge I had gained. I have attached the handout I provided for this presentation below.
