NURS 393 focused on the nursing care necessary to be provided to patients with complex health problems. This course provided further knowledge on the medical conditions that we have learned about in previous classes with more detail, along with more complex health problems that we had not learned about previously. The lab portion of this class was beneficial because it allowed us to learn, practice, and apply complex clinical skills. These skills included chest tubes, EKGs, PIC lines, among other complex skills.
During clinical I was able to follow a nurse on the Arrhythmia Cardiac Unit (ACU) and Chippenham Hospital. This was a great experience because it allowed me to apply the knowledge I had learned in NURS 393 and see first hand the complex health problems we had been learning about. You can see below the paper I wrote about this experience.
