NURS 325: Nursing Care of Women, Children, and Families

This course focused on the nursing care and concepts related to women’s health, pregnancy, and care of the infant and families through adolescence. The information discussed dealt with normal and high risk pregnancies with an emphasis on using the nursing process to assess childbearing women, children, and families. The structure of this class was beneficial in my learning in that it went from childbearing women, to infants, to children, and up to adolescence. Furthermore, I was able to apply the knowledge I learned in the clinical setting for both OB and pediatrics. Ever since I chose to do nursing I knew this was the field of nursing I wanted to enter into. Having the opportunity to learn in both the classroom and the clinical setting showed me that this is where my heart is. Once I graduate I hope to utilize the knowledge from this class to find a career in women’s health or pediatrics.

This class was split into two sections, OB and Pediatrics. For each section we worked with a group to create a group presentation on an assigned topic. My OB group assignment was on shoulder dystocia and my Pediatric group focused on adolescence. See below to find out more about these presentations.
