Dear Future Madison,
I was not sure where to begin when writing this letter to you. Three years does not seem that far away in the grand scheme of things to be writing a letter, especially since freshman year is almost already over. I have already moved back home and there is just over a month left of classes. It is crazy to think it has been over seven months since move in day. The day that changed my life forever, but I am sure you would agree it was the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Freshman year was one for the books for sure. Making new friends, adjusting to living on my own, getting the hang of college in general, and all the new experiences. Starting off with the honors retreat, meeting all my nursing friends, the late nights, the Tuesday night Panda Express runs with Skylar, and all the other positives throughout the year. There were tears, but the laughs and smiles will always outweigh all those hard, stressful, and late days. The memories made freshman year will last forever and I am sure the memories made since then have to.
There are so many hopes that I wish for your future. I hope you make many more friends and form relationships that will last a lifetime. I hope you get involved in everything that you can that makes you happy. I hope you create memories in honors and out of honors that you will never forget, just like the honors retreat where you met some of your best friends freshman year. I hope you keep chasing your dream of being a nurse through all the hard classes and stressful days and be the nurse you have always wanted to be. Overall, at graduation, I hope you look back at the past Madison and are proud of the things she accomplished.
Remember to always be yourself and stay true to yourself. Be who you want to be and be awesome at it. Don’t change for anyone and make yourself proud. Be the Madison you have always dreamed of being and overcome every mountain in the way, big or small.
You did it! Your past self is so proud of you.
With love, the past Madison
