This class was not what I expected it to be. My mind is more creative and not analytical, so I struggled a lot in this class since it was entirely based on analyzing. It got to the point where I literally dreaded going to this class every Monday. Now don’t get me wrong, this was an amazing class and I wish I had a better understanding of how to analyze, but my brain just doesn’t work that way. I tried so hard to think deeper than what I was reading, but I just couldn’t. Even though I struggled, I did learn some things from this class. I learned how different the old versions of fairy tales were compared to the versions we grew up with. They focused more on giving actual advice to the readers whereas the versions we know are more so focused on having a happy ending. Almost all of the old versions didn’t have happy endings.
