City as Text – Atlanta
Reflection
If I had to choose a favorite class of my sophomore year, this was it. Not only did I get to explore another city that I’ve always had an interest in, but I learned how to explore more diligently and how to actually pay attention to my surroundings. This was my first city as text experience and I’m pretty interested in taking more courses like this. I never realized how much you could learn about a place just by immersing yourself into the area, talking to people, and taking in your surroundings. Atlanta is one of the places I’m thinking of moving after graduating because it’s a media centered city which is right down my alley, so getting the chance to explore and see how areas even 10 minutes away from downtown have a completely different atmosphere (not as busy) makes me super excited to visit again.
