SPRING 2019

My favorite assignment in this class was researching a topic that relates to our major and writing it in the format that also relates to how we would write papers in our major.  Although I had not written any papers in an athletic training format, because I had not yet applied to the program, I did my best to write about a topic that would relate to it.

Reflection: I think this paper was the perfect way to introduce me to the writing that is done in sports medicine.  Although it is not exactly a topic people would write about in sports medicine, it was a great way for me to practice.  Most athletic training research articles are case studies about injury and risks to athletes.  Furthermore, I must write in AMA format in the athletic training field instead of APA format like I did in this paper.  Although this paper is not what you may find in an accredited sports medicine journal, it does relate to the psychology of athletes.  This is a very important topic to the world of sports medicine, and I learned a lot from researching it.  Not only did this class improve my writing skills, but it gave me the opportunity to explore the field of medicine that I love most.  In my career, I could use the research I learned from this article to inform coaches and athletes about the psychological effects of participation trophies.
