Perspective : Spanish 211 – Intermediate Integrated Language and Culture

Spanish 211, Intermediate Integrated Language and Culture, is taught by Professor Janet Smith. The course is designed to develop intermediate interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication in Spanish. This course filled a perspective requirement under the global citizenship component.

The course assigned textbook was Plazas: Lugar de encuentros. 5th Edition. We used the textbook for activities each class as well as the webassign to complete homework each night of the week. The webassign portion was very beneficial and created a stronger sense of responsibility when the professor did not give notice of work being due.

The midterm for Professor Smith’s class included writing a 250 word essay completely in Spanish of what our personal life aspirations are. The assignment was challenging because of the barrier between proper English grammar and Spanish grammar.
