Scholarship

~ Decide to try ~

Scholarship within the Cormier Honors College is not like other colleges. The Cormier Honors College thrives on the idea that work is not harder or heavier in load, but it is different. Members of the Honors College do not take any more credits than a normal student. We take our courses in different environments. As students of the Honors College, we take courses within a unique atmosphere. We study abroad, change curriculum to challenge our thoughts, and are given advanced opportunities.

Academically honors courses within the college feel different from other courses in that they are more student paced and student led. For example, within one of my honors courses, we the students spent the first week of the class explaining to our professor what we wanted to learn about the topic of the class. She then tailored the course to fit our desires. The professors of the Honors College want us to succeed academically, but they also want us to push ourselves and our interests to new levels. By allowing us to “build” a curriculum we put more effort into the learning aspect because we have a passion for the topics.
