Service

Community service became an important part of my life in high school. I find that with my career path being law enforcement, I enjoy giving back to the community and realize how important it is. Crime prevention starts with giving back to your community and being involved with the community. Through the Honors College, I have gotten many community service opportunities and am grateful to continue to get those opportunities. During the Honors Retreat, we helped with the White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue in Farmville which focuses on helping children with disabilities. We helped create an outdoor space and activities for children with disabilities as well as cleaned the stables and repainted them. I also volunteered for STEPS annual Christmas show, which raises money for STEPS, a non-profit organization that focuses on homelessness assistance, energy assistance, Head Start, and other programs. I hope to be more involved with community service on and off campus this year and am looking forward to new opportunities to give back to the Farmville community.
