Public Speaking – COMM 101

I showed this powerpoint covering women’s roles in sports media compared to mens media during a persuasive speech I presented on February 21, 2019.

This artifact was apart of a very important assignment that was to demonstrate how far we’ve come in the class. As we were only to have note cards for the presentation, that made the speech more casual and conversational. This was one of my best speeches in that I was fluid and did not read from the cards. From this class and from this speech, I was able to acquire ample research skills that have helped me tremendously in other classes. This public speaking course has done so much for me and my confidence when talking in front of the class. In the short term, these skills will help me properly present projects in other classes and for other honors activities. In the long term, I will be able to present assignments at my future job and be able to address large groups of people and know how to formulate attention grabbing speeches. Although I performed fairly well in this class, their are defiantly things I need to work on that include making sure my nervous ticks are under control while I preset, having a strong attention getter and clincher, and finally having a speech that doesn’t completely negative the other side of whatever I am talking about.

Just a snapshot into my time at Longwood!
