Biological Concepts – BIOL 101

This photograph of a petri dish was from one of our experiments to test different levels of sunscreen on yeast, a model organism for human skin.  This experiment took place over many weeks but this photograph was taken on October 16, 2018.

This experiment was intended to accomplish multiple things: for starters, it helped us make an educated guess based off of our research and previous experiments. Also, it helped my observation skills and drawing conclusions based off of the data we collected. While I did not excel in this class it really helped me into learning my best ways to study and remember information. I improved instrumentally from my first test to the final exam. I also noticed myself improving by looking at previous discussions we held in class and how observations and making conclusions had come easier by the end of the course. I also struggled with due dates in this class, it was my first difficult course and my failure to learn how to use canvas fast enough damaged my grades in the beginning. In the short  term as well in the long term, I need to make sure I know how to use all the resources for a class or project before starting them, and if not, I need to be confident enough to ask for help when I need it.

Just a snapshot into my time at Longwood!
