Service

Before even starting classes at Longwood, at the beginning of the honors retreat, we learned all about service and the impacts it has on other people. Also in my Sustainable Lancers CTZN 110 course we learned a lot about service and how it effects other people. In the honors retreat, my group ended up cleaning up a local park for the children of the community. This was a helped project because I had not known anyone yet other than the other female athletes in my freshman class. It allowed me to get to know other people and help out the Farmville community. In my CTZN 110 class, we did a lot of work with recycling. We went around campus documenting what recycling we had on campus as well as how many had used it.  We also made flyers to inform the campus about the recycling and encouraging them to do it. We also made flyers about the water usage on campus on how to be more sustainable; the flyers simply including data on water usage and its effect on the campus and world. These two areas have taught me not about service. It has inspired me to looking working with a non-profit when I graduate and helping with the fight on human-trafficking.

Just a snapshot into my time at Longwood!
