I was so honored to partake in this experience and I learned so much about the environment and all, but the best experience of all was creating the friendships that I have now. Many of the people I spend my time with are all Life-Stem people in this cohort. At first, we were all shy and only talking to the people that we may have met on the first day or orientation, but now we all can’t stop talking when around each other. There was a turning point as to when we all became close, and this was when we all played a board game together on teams. It allowed us to talk about ourselves and listen to others and how their lives were before coming to college. Another one was when we played Ultimate Frisbee together at the old house that the first cohort stayed in on their summer bridge. Almost everyone in the cohort was playing Frisbee, the few that weren’t were on the water kayaking or canoeing to see the sunset. We played until it was dark and could no longer see the Frisbee. To this day we still play ultimate outside on Wheeler lawn when it’s a good day. These people helped me so much in learning how to connect with others and start conversations with new people and how to get to know each other. I’m so grateful for these people in my life and can’t wait to spend my college career with them.
