BIOL 324

Genetics

This course was completed in Spring 2020. This course went over the basics of genetics quickly and then going over more complex topics such as both eukaryote and prokaryote genetic systems, ethics currently in genetics, etc. Our project in the lab was to use CrisperCas 9 to edit a gene in fruit flies, which my group and I chose the group WFS1. Attached to this reflection is the proposal presentation that my group and I created, as well as the final presentation that was presented at our school’s Research and Inquiry Showcase.

I loved taking this course because it was one that is a topic that is constantly being updated and changing. I learned new things that I didn’t learn in the prerequisite course, Biology 250, or high school, which is where I found my love for genetics. This course just made my love even greater and taught me so much.
