Theatre 101: Issues in Theatre

This class was an awesome one. It was certainly one of my favorites, thus far. Although the class was called “Issues in Theatre” it was definitely more of a “Theatre Basics.” It taught me all these new things regarding big moments in theatre history. The staple playwrights were discussed like the Greeks and Shakespeare, among many others. A huge takeaway from this class, that I had, was understanding how there is almost never a play that is “just for fun.” So many of them always have an underlying political tone, or something like that.

Link This piece I just linked is actually a very special one. Our class final was a project where we had to write a children’s theatre play. I wrote this completely original story, which contains 3 protagonists: a cat, a dog and a mouse. They all struggle over food, and it brings them together in the end. Read it and find out the details yourself! 🙂
