Community

One of my favorite parts about honors is the community it creates. I felt as if I was part of the community before I even decided to come to Longwood. It was the experience I had at honors preview day that resulted in my calling my mom that night and telling her I wanted to come to Longwood. Ever since, I’ve loved every minute I’ve spent with these wonderful people which makes the idea of having to leave hard.

In December 2016, I began the process of transferring to Virginia Commonwealth University. While the decision was hard, it was the best idea for my situation. The major I’m currently pursuing here at Longwood isn’t giving me what I necessarily need to succeed in my preferable career path, so after months of going back and forth, I finally decided to go through with it. Sadly, this didn’t work out for me so I had to stay at Longwood, but now I’m graduating a semester earlier than I was originally supposed to.

While I’m definitely going to miss Longwood’s community, as well as the family the Honors College created, I’m excited to finally be done with college and able to make up all the lost time (and lost money) coming here costed me. I’m moving to Los Angeles next summer where I will pursue an internship that I’m not allowed to disclose yet, but I’m super excited for the opportunity to finally go forward with my career!
