I took this course during the Fall semester of my freshmen year and I believe it was a good class for me to become familiar with the amount work and time that college would require. Throughout every week there would be multiple canvas assignments that built upon what we did in class by annotating articles and reviewing prime sources that discussed our current topic. This course greatly strengthened my knowledge of America’s more modern history from post-civil war to now. The information we learned was much more detailed with specific events by focusing more certain people and events that would have only been minor topics in public school. I enjoyed being able to gain a more complete understanding of American history very much because it allowed me to feel like a more true American.
This artifact was our final project for the course where we were tasked with picking a topic and listing seven ways the course had shaped the way we think of it. The topic that I chose was the effects of technological development. We had to write a short description of each way that we listed. I enjoyed going back and thinking of the ways I thought about things prior to the class and then comparing them to my changed opinions following the class. This allowed me to really comprehend the magnitude of the differences in my opinions as a result of the course.
