Historical Inquiry I – HIST 150
This paper, written by Sydney Jacobsen on September 14, 2018, is about the Greek women and their roles in society.
This artifact was the first response paper we were assigned in this History 150 course. That being so, it was almost a test run for the format to see if that was what my professor wanted out of the assignment. He ended up giving me a very good grade for my incorporation of sources as well as weaving in and out of researched information as well as my own contribution to the works. Also, since it was the first assignment, I wasn’t able to compare it to previous writing assignments in the class but was able to look and see how it stood next to papers I had written in high school. My construction and organization of the actual essay was very coherent and easy to follow, however I could make the wording more fluid. I do remember that typically once I finished my essays, I only reread them once or twice instead of multiple times and out loud to catch any awkward phrases. That is something I plan to work very hard on next semester and something I tried to do in my second semester at Longwood. My goals for future assignments and academic texts would be to just make sure I review my work and really make sure there are no basic or mindless errors.
