I have learned and felt the importance of community in every class I have taken so far at Longwood, however a couple of classes that I really felt it and learned about it in was my Sustainable Lancer class and my History 150 course. In the CTZN 110 course (also know as Sustainable Lancer) we did a lot of work learning about the community and how to be caring for others and simply how to take care of Earth to the best of our personal abilities. It has made a huge impact on my life and now is something I strongly consider before I make decisions; their affect on the people and environment around me. In my History 150 class, we learned a lot about ancient myths of different cultures. In that class we learned about different time periods communities and also what other people in the class believed and respecting those beliefs in our debates. This class taught me how to respect those beliefs no matter how outlandish I thought they were. The class size was also incredibly small which helped in allowing our class to feel close and considerate of each other. In both of these courses community has taught me and played a different role in my life, both areas where I needed it. These two classes have taught me things that I will remember for the rest of my college career as well as information and emotions I will take with me when I graduate.
