Art 457: Editions

I jumped at the chance to take an art course that also was for Honors, as I get to blend my interests with requirements. This course focused primarily on printing with old style presses while incorporating bookbinding, paper making, and the use of image with text. We worked primarily independently while having to use measurements and a lot of patience. We talked about how and why art has developed and what made these innovations such as the printing press.

One assignment was to create a greeting card and calendar based on a month. With the month of March, I leaned towards Spring and flowers. I found flowers common in sympathy cards and created a foam cutout to print the image of a flower, and lead type for my text. I tried to create a card that felt like it was made with sympathy and was not just a kind looking card.
