I very much enjoyed taking LGBTQ+ and the Media with Dr Waggoner. Dr Wagoner was a very good professor who made the material interesting by giving us access to many different mediums of media and including the history of LGBTQ+ culture from different countries as well as our own. Dr Waggoner also expressed the importance of representation and the importance of not having the LGBTQ+ character’s have their gender/sexuality be their only characteristic or their defining characteristic. Dr Waggoner also had us complete a project in which we wrote scripts for short films in which a character in the story had to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. We also used teamwork to make some of the movies for the Media Showcase in the spring.
