Biography

My name is Emily McGuire and I am a Nursing major with a NeuroStudies minor. I have dreamed of becoming a nurse for years now and I am finally on the path to make that happen. Growing up I have always had a huge heart for helping others. Over the years, with the help of my family, peers, and mentors I discovered my passion of caring for others. Being able to put a smile on someone’s face and know that I helped them gives me the greatest feeling. My ultimate goal in life is to make a difference in the world by becoming a nurse that advocates for her patients and provides them with the best care possible. Not only do I want to impact my patient’s lives but also inspire others who want to make a difference. This e-portfolio contains reflections and examples of assignments and projects from the courses that I have taken at Longwood. All of these reflections and examples represent my progress on reaching my goals.

Prior to attending Longwood, I attended Patrick Henry Community College while in high school and received an Associate’s Degree in General Studies. This degree allowed me to fulfill the the Foundations and Pillars requirements of Longwood’s Civitae Curriculum.
