Scholarship

Opportunities for scholarship held a lot of weight in my decision to come to Longwood.  I knew when I was looking at colleges that academic achievement and success- grades and test scores that would show graduate schools on paper how much I had learned- were important to me, but that I wanted much more than that out of my college experience.  I came to Longwood determined to get real, lasting knowledge out of my years here.  I knew that with Longwood’s small size and less intense pace than other schools, I would have the opportunities as well as the mental space I need to put real effort into engaging with the materials of my classes, going beyond grades on assignments.  Starting when I applied to the Cormier Honors College months before I even moved in, I have sought out ways to challenge myself and ensure that what I take away from my years here is far more than a transcript.
