Goal 1- LSEM

Longwood Seminar, or “LSEM,” is a required class for all freshman designed to help them adjust to college life and teach them basic skills that they might not have learned yet.  We covered topics ranging from self presentation to the impact of others’ decisions on our lives, time management, resources available at Longwood, and the school’s relationship with the town of Farmville.  Most of the elements of LSEM that I think will stay with me came from the reflective writing we did each week outside of class on these topics.  I appreciated the informality of the essays and how they gave us time to really think about the topics and express our thoughts in a planned and thorough way.  Below is one of these essays, the prompt for which was “What are you willing to fight for and why?”
