ART 125

This class was taken the first semester of my sophomore year and I absolutely loved it!  I love drawing and being artsy so having a class that combined both drawing elements and ceramics as well made it a very fun learning experience.  I have never dealt with clay before so it was really interesting being able to learn a new medium to use within art.  It was also nice being able to learn not only how the wheel works, but how to hand mold clay into pieces as well.  It was a little difficult at first as it was new for me but I quickly picked it up and ended up making some great pieces that I still able to use today!  The drawing part of this class was also a lot of fun as I learned new techniques such as how to use sight lines, learned how to create blind contour drawings, and gained new methods to make my self-portraits better than before.  It was fun being able to experiment with these new techniques as it broadened my artistic abilities more than ever before.  One of the most important things I learned from this class as a whole was time management.  This class was very time consuming as creating pieces of art can take a long time, however, I was able to learn how to effectively use my time which led to me getting a good grade in the class.  This class was a such a great experience that I will never forget!

Title: Breakfast of Champions

Author: Katelyn Weber

Date: November 25, 2019

The artifact for this class was our Breakfast of Champions Project which was our final project for the ceramics portion of the class.  We were instructed to create one cup, one bowl, and one mug that were all large enough that we could come together at the end and have breakfast together with them.  They also had to have similar features that drew all of them together to make it look like a set.  Along with creating the pieces, we had to present them to the class by explaining what was challenging about it, what elements make them come together as a whole, what our favorite piece was, and our least favorite piece.  Once we did that, we all ate our breakfast together by having the options of putting juice in our cups, coffee in our mugs, and cereal in our bowls.
