Biography

Hi, my name is Katelyn Weber!  I am from Glen Allen, Virginia.  I am also a liberal studies major with a concentration in elementary education, so hopefully I will become a great teacher one day!  Being a part of the Cormier Honors College has opened up a plethora of new experiences for me that I would never have gotten without it.  The honors retreat really pushed me out of my comfort zone, which was great because my whole life I have usually been a shy, reserved individual.  However, that first week of college I made a lot of new, amazing friends, I was able to do an awesome high ropes course, I helped out the town of Farmville by doing community service, and I got to bond with not only the incoming freshman but upperclassmen as well who made me feel like I truly belonged at Longwood University.  The Cormier Honors College tremendously helped me become the more outgoing individual I am today which I could not be more thankful for.  Along with being a part of the honors college at Longwood, I also joined a couple of amazing clubs and organizations!  The first one I joined was the Women’s Club Volleyball team.  I have played volleyball ever since I was in 4th grade, so I was extremely excited when I found out I made it on the team!  We have gotten to travel to a couple of different universities for tournaments which has been a really cool experience.  The other organization I was accepted into was Longwood Ambassadors.  Being a tour guide for the school I absolutely love has been the best experience ever!  I love being able to give tours to prospective students and families because I am able to provide them with lots of useful information and show them my love for Longwood in hopes that they will one day come to our university.  Both of these clubs and organizations have been such a pleasure to be a part of, and I hope in the future I will be able to get even more involved on campus!
