SPAN 111

This class was taken the first semester of my freshman year of college.  Coming into this class, I was a little nervous as I had not taken Spanish since sophomore year in high school.  However, Professor Everhart was absolutely amazing at helping our class start at the basics again and build up from there.  By the end of the semester, I was already caught up to everything I had learned over my four years of Spanish through middle school and high school.  Now I felt so much more confident in my Spanish and knew I would be able to do well in not only that class but Spanish 211 as well.  One really cool thing I learned from that class was about different types of Spanish foods and the cultures from the different countries.  Our final project we completed helped us learn more about the different cultures in the Spanish speaking countries which was something I had never learned about before.

This artifact was our final project for our Spanish class.  We were instructed to make food from a Spanish speaking country, explore the culture of the country, and create a video of us making the food while speaking in Spanish.  This project was really cool as it allowed for us to learn about other cultures while getting in practice speaking Spanish.  Then on our last day of class, we all brought in the food we made, which my group made a tres leches cake, and we all ate each others food.
